Hello from Oz....my first blog from Oz about Oz...lots to tell, so watch this space. In the meantime...Rainbow Beach...stayed here at Dingo's Backpackers for a night. Comfortable, affordable, has a pool, and a bar, live music last night - had to go out for food as the meal vouchers sold out and the cooker is out of order. Had a big fat burger and it was delicious - thanks Shak cafe.
On a healthier, more active note, Sharan and i were in the ocean boogie boarding less than an hour after stepping off the coach here - which stops conveniently opposite our hostel. Saw what might have been a small snake coming back from the beach - AAAAGH, RUUUUN! It might have been a skink, but took no chances. We then showered and headed to Carlo Sanblow, a stretch of sand on the top of some cliffs that is steadily creeping inland - you get the most amazing views of the sunsetting here - Sharan and i were kicking ourselves as we came away 20mins too early and saw between some houses on the walk back that the sky - massive sky in OZ - was lit up Pink and Gold - D'oh! Still, we've seen our fair share and are likely to see a few more (have i mentioned this in our blogs already?).
Booked some trips and accomodation for the remainder of our Oz trip and we're off to Hervey Bay. Yay.
Compact, relaxed and beautiful - Rainbow Beach is small but it has everything you need for a day or even two. Kick off those 'thongs' and relax.
