After a great time in Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island it was time to hop back on the Oz bus and head south, next stop Byron Bay. Laos was fantatic as Mr Lake has said... Quick hightlights from me! Vang Vieng is ridiculous! Tubing another must do for everyone! Quality fun! Luang Prabang another heavily french influenced place. Nice and relaxed palce The journey between them was amazing... up through the mountains, is amazing! We would have loved to get the slow boat from Luang Prabang back into Thialand and onto Chiang Mai - but unfortunatley time was of the essense...

As things were starting to move on time wise on this trip, with so much left to see we decided that the best way to get into Laos from Hanoi was to fly. This was fine but there was one slight concern......Lao Airways! We could only afford to pay for the cheapest option and in this instance it was Lao Airways. There is a reason that they are the cheapest option, and its because they are the only airline that doesn't publish its saftey record...

We arrived in Airlie Beach on the day of the world cup final, which kind of out shadowed everything else the first night. Next we took a night sleeper bus from Nha Trang arriving in Hoi An early the next morning! Much prefered that mode of travel from the wonderful crammed buses we were getting so use to now!
