Great Ocean Road, South Australia

The Great Ocean Road tour started with an early morning (up at 5:30am!!) and it was raining.

On the first day of the trip we drove along the Great Ocean Road which was just amazing despite the weather. We stopped at a couple of lookouts along the way aswell as stopping to look for koalas (I saw my first ones in the wild!).

We then drove to the 12 Apostilles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge in the afternoon which were all great despite the rain and the fact we were all getting wet!

Are accommodation that night was in Warnambool and was really nice (it had a big TV and free tea and coffee!).

The following day we drove into the Grampians National Park. We visited the information and cultural centre before climbing down hundreds of steps to the base of MacKensie Falls. We then stopped off at Mount Zero where we had the option to climb it or walk up to an Aboriginal shelter. I took the latter having already had enought of climbing for the day with the waterfall. It was really interesting though and we could see some of the Aboriginal cave paintings on the underside of the shelter.

This night was spent at the hostel owned by the couple that own the company I travelled with and we had a feast that night was masses of food!

We got a major lay in the next day, not leaving until 9:15am. We went to the Naracoorte caves which are World Heritage listed and went down into the fossil cave which was amazing. We went about 18m below the surface which was pretty cool.

After lunch in town we went wine tasting. Despite the fact that there was only 1 white wine I tried all 8 of the wines and actually some of the reds were alright! We were there about 45 minutes so I have no idea how much wine we will get to try on the full day tour I am doing while in Adelaide!!

After the wine tasting it was a 3 hours drive to Adelaide and the end of the tour.
