Day 22 - 4th August Colorado Springs to Gunnison (Colorado)
Highest Point 2
Pikes Peak was my mission for the day. It stands at about 4300 meters high and
it consists of tar and gravel all the way to the top.
A race called the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, held every July, has been held on the mountain for the past 80 years and it's an opportunity I couldn't miss.
The altitude made me a little dizzy but the views from that height were amazing, I was lucky it was a clear day.
I spent the rest of the day travelling in the high country and decided to camp at Gunnison at another RV park next to a lake at an altitude of 2400 meters.
Cheers
Greg
