Hey everyone, this will most likely be the last blog entry, how sad!
We are now in sunny San Francisco after flying to LA, 'riding the dog' as they call it here(taking the greyhound bus) up to Santa Rosa to see Clare, Alice and Robert, then another greyhound back down to San Fran.
We had an awesome week staying with Clare, being utterly spoiled with lots of food and fantastic wine (Sonoma County being one of the major wine regions here in california). We went up in a tiny 4-seater plane over San Francisco Bay, right over the Golden Gate bridge and all around the bay, which was AMAZING. Clear blue sky, crazy views. We also went on a tour of the wineries, though we had to be very subtle about sneaking tastes of the wine! Its weird not being able to have a drink here in public.
It was also great to have our own room and bathroom, and be able to have a cup of tea without having to heat up the water in the microwave due to rubbish hostel kitchens!
SO we left Sebastopol and Clare drove us to the Greyhound stop in Santa Rosa, we said goodbye, then ended up waiting for two hours in a very dodgy part of town as the bus was late. Got to San Francisco at about 7, took the bus to our hostel- took a lot of navigation skills to get there, as well as endless patience from the incredibly rude bus drivers- but we got there eventually. AFter having wandered around and realising that we were definitely not in the right part of town to be hanging round, we headed swiftly back up to our hostel in Union Square. It's a dump. But only for another week! We'll survive! So far we have been around Chinatown, up and down Market Street, around Union Square. We're planning to go to Haight and Ashbury tomorrow for a hippie fix!
Hope everything ok in the Uk, we're looking froward to getting home but enjoying the city. lots of love, Luce and Em xxxx
