Well! We are now in LA, but wanted to write the blog for Fiji so here goes.
NISSAN BULA! (hello everyone)
We arrived in Nadi on 6th may, got a shuttle to Nomads and met up with Rox and Ben! Only for a night though as we had to leave the next morning to start island hopping. We got the boat to our first island, which we have forgotten the name of, but the resort was called sunrise lagoon. The journey was amazing, it was really sunny and we saw nearly all of the Yasawa islands, plus flying fish and lots of coral reefs!
the resort was quite small and to begin with there was only 5 of us altogether, but there was lots to do- we walked to the famous Blue Lagoon the second day, which was amazing, proper paradise stuff, apart from the enormous cruise ship taking up half the beach! Spent a good half day tanning and swimming, then in the afternoon a load more people arrived and we had a good time. The electricity went off at 10 however so not much partying going on!
The next resort was called White sandy beach, (very appropriate- it was on a long white sandy beach), and they had an awesome welcome with coconut drinks and music, the singing is brillant. we chilled out for the 2 nights we spent there, they had entertainment in the evenings with dancing and fijian songs which was quite funny- they tried to teach us a dance but it didnt quite turn out well.
The last resort was by far the best, it was called Wayalailai Ecohaven and was the only resort in Fiji ran and owned by the people living on the island villages. we got awesome food, and on the wednesday night they had a traditional fijian night- all the food was cooked in an underground oven, and we had to eat with our hands- rice with hands is a major challenge! The singing group from the village came up as well and sung and danced for us, which was amazing. Had a great time overall, met some cool people and had a fair amount of sun, just what was needed after new zealand raaaaaaain! We are now in LA, things not quite going to plan- we've hit our first big problem, all the hostels are booked up all the way up the coast, so we may have to go straight to san fransisco...we'll see how it pans out. We're doing a tour of LA tomorrow, which will be good fun!
Love to all, more updates soon. Luce and Em xxxxxxx
