We had a reasonable night sleep considering we’re on a train! There wasn’t anyone behind us so Mark moved so we could spread out. We’ve had some interesting views along route, cities, mountains, snow, dry land, flat land, cows, horses and the moon at 3pm!
We stopped at Albuquerque for 1hour 30mins as we made up some time on the way. We mooched about the city but there wasn’t much to see! We finally found some stamps for Ella and Tom’s postcards! They don’t seem to sell them as commonly as at home, even though everywhere sells postcards! Hmmm! They proved elusive in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon!
When we boarded the train we were quizzed by undercover police! They had already quizzed someone on our coach but seemed to mooching around still. He was very nice and was interested to hear about our travels. He was keen to locate the owner of a bag above our seats but we had no idea, when he returned to the other guy he had quizzed, he had ‘forgot’ it was his! The policeman wasn’t happy and begun searching his bag, asking about weapons etc! He found some drugs and disposed of them! The guy seemed really friendly, but was from the roughest part of LA and a year ago he had been stabbed for no reason, several times, including to his face! No wonder the policeman was suspicious!
The day seemed to go really fast and we spent most of it reading, snoozing and playing cards! The train seems really empty so we’ll be able to sleep well again tonight..hopefully!
