First thing we went to find the Gabba where cricket is played and also where the Brisbane Lions play aussie rules! Marks brother Rory supports them so we went to visit for him!
We had a few more sights that we wanted to visit, first being parliament house which is apparantly the only parliament house still used for its orginial purpose and then over the road were the terrace mansions which were built in the 1890's.
From there we went up to the Mt Coot-Tha lookout at the top of the mountain. We could see right across the city which seemed huge from up there! We only just made it to the lookout as we nearly got caught out with petrol, but we made it to a station just in time! phew!
From here we drove back through Brisbane and headed for the Gold coast. We stopped in Surfers Paradise which was nothing like we had expected! It was a a big city on the coast and quite a busy one too! The beach was beautiful and there were lots of people surfing! We walked along the beach and went for a mooch through the main shopping area, which was quite nice actually! We then continued on our way towards Byron Bay. We didn't arrive until late afternoon so haven't had chance to look around yet. We found a camp site, but its full of hippies! It seems that it may be that sort of place here! We shall see tomorrow!
