We now hate sandflies!! They are very very very persistent and nibble far too much!! We made a very quick exit from the campsite and set out towards Queenstown. We stopped a few miles down the road to kill all sandflies and remove them from the Newt! It took a while!
We had such a lovely drive down. At every corner we were stopping to take pictures! The mountains, the snow capped ones, the crystal clear lakes and the blue skies were just incredible! We have never seen anything so beautiful and that convinced us that the south island is pretty special!! We had these amazing views all the way to Queenstown! We passed Lake Wanaka which was beautiful and we did consider staying the night but there wasn't much around it! We went into the town of Wanaka which was very pretty too but also very touristy. It was a beautiful day but we had no food so continued on towards Queenstown. We also passed Lake Hawe. We were really surprised at Queenstown, it was far nicer than we had expected! Its a small town set alongside Lake Wakatipu which was gorgeous! We sunbaked by the lake for the afternoon before exploring the town. We stayed at a lovely site just outside Queenstown, alongside the lake. We have seen some beautiful scenery today and to top it off we watched the sun setting over the lake! Bliss!
