We boarded the train bright and early and found our reserved seats which were pretty snazy! They had loads of leg room and had a thing to pull out to rest your legs on..makes sleeping easier..or its supposed to anyway! The train was very long and was double decker! We were up top so had good views! The train had a restaurant, a café, a games room and an observation carriage where you could go and sit with better views as the seats faced the window! Would be good for when we head down to LA as the train travels along the coast.
We passed through many cities and towns, and we were provided with a booklet which detailed what the cities were famous for and what we would observe en route. The driver also kept us informed! We passed through another Vancouver..this one in Washington though! We saw many of the mountains in the Cascades, including Mount Hood and the Three Sisters. We passed through Oregon state and through Springfield where the Simpsons originate from. We travelled across lots of big bridges, and some rather narrow ones!! We saw some famous navy ships which are no longer used and that are waiting to be moved to museums. The journey seemed to go really quickly and before we knew it, it was bed time! Unfortunately, sleeping was not as comfortable as first anticipated!! Neither of us could get comfy and Mark found it hard to fall asleep! Despite this, the night also seemed to fly by and before we knew it, we were in Emeryville and it was time to leave the Amtrak train!
