After much trying, I couldn't persuade Mark to stay another night at the nice campsite!! Instead we went in to Townsville and to the beachfront. We walked along the Strand which was beautiful! Considering it was so early, everywhere was so busy!! They had a few swimming areas, including a lagoon, and many of these were busy with surf lessons for the kids! There was lots to see and do along the way, mostly for children, including a very impressive water play area which we wanted to play in! They really like providing for children! We also watched some jet skis racing around and the teams cheering them on!
We then headed in to town where we went yesterday and found a big market happening. We had a mooch around and tried to find a phone shop as our phone charger has broken. They had pretty much everything on sale, apart from phone chargers, and it was huge! The lady in the tourist information advised us to visit one of the many shopping centres on the way out of town!
So we trundeled back to Talula with our 50c ice cream from mcds and set off to the shopping centre! We nearly got in the wrong camper as there was another travel wheels camper just a few spaces up from us! That would have been embarrassing!!
We found the shopping centre and found a phone charger, yippee!! I quite like the shopping centres here, apart from the prices!!
We were impressed with Townsville, it was nicer than we first thought when we arrived!
We then set off on our way towards Prosperine which is near to the Whitsundays islands. It was a long drive and as we got nearer we decided to get even closer and go to Airlie beach instead.
We had hoped to be in early enough to be able to sort something for going out to the islands but we only just arrived at our campsite in time, literally 2mins before they closed the office! Instead we settled in and decided we will sort it in the morning.
The bugs and flies are starting to annoy us, especially when they flies are jumbo size and insist on sitting on you! The ones at this site are at least 2cms long and very loud! I can handle small, average sized flies, but not giant ones!! Then theres the bugs, the shelled variety! EUGH!! They often crop up in the shower blocks in the evening, hmmm!
