We awoke to hear planes, and lots of them! When we emered from the camper we discovered that we were right next to an air field and lots of small planes were taking off!
We finally managed to make breakfast in between fighting off the flies and went to reception to enquire about going out to the islands. We had a bit of a shock about the prices and soon realised that it was very similar to what we had done in Cairns when we visited the island and went snorkelling. We collected the leaflets and headed in to town to see if there were any other alternatives. It appeared not! As we wanted to visit Fraser Island which is further down near to Brisbane, we had to decide which we wanted to do! We came to the conclusion that we should leave Whitsundays as it was similar to what we have already done, and save our money for Fraser island instead.
So we spent some time around Airlie beach which was beautiful, and the harbour with all the boats. We then set out on our way towards Mackay. By not doing Whitsundays, it means that we have more time on our hands and can do more of the things we'd like to do further south, e.g. the blue mountains near Sydney.
We made it to Mackay mid afternoon and found a nice campsite on the beach again. We relaxed on the beach for the rest of the afternoon and spent the evening, eating, playing cards and frog watching!
