Thailand & India 2009

by Mary Ann Gray

Bangkok, Thailand

We have arrived in Bangkok after a very long night train from Chiang Mai. We were sad to leave Chiang Mai but it was time to move on.

We caught that train around 16:30 last night out of Chiang Mai. We sat right beside the entry/exit door and unfortunately the door did not close when someone walked thru it. So many a times Rene had to get up and close the door to the dinning room/party room so that we could hear each other speaking. It was a bit on the loud side.

Both Rene and I had upper berths so that when it was time to have the beds made we had to move from sitting at the seat below to up in our beds. Which was ok since we were tired after a long day of wandering around before catching the train. Rene did help himself to a few Chiangs (sp?) before he headed to bed thinking that it would help him sleep. I guess in some ways it did but the sleep was not long enough and today we have found to be on the pooped side.

We took the city bus from the Train Station to Khoa San Road to hang out for the day until we are ready to catch the night train to the south. Heading to Sarin Tani (sp?) and then catching a bus to Krabi for about 3 days. At least that is the plan right now. We have called J Mansion and are hoping that when we get to Krabi or Ao Nong (sp?) beach that there will be a room there for us. We called this morning and gave them our names but I guess we have to really wait and see when we arrive.

Well, we are just spending some time in the internet cafe to pass the time before we head to the train station again. Not really looking forward to heading outside and facing that heat again. But then I guess that I can't complain, I could be home where it is cold and most likely raining.
