Hi everybody,
A very happy BIG birthday Michael...!!!
I met up with ‘The Wild Dogs’ motor bikers who kindly invited me to a Brai (BBQ)and camp weekend in a great spot up in the hills where pigs and goats were sacrificed for a superb bikers feast, Thanks guys and girls....
A few days later I arrived at Islandwana where 1100 British lost their lives in a battle with 20 thousand Zulus and Rorkes Drift , the mission that was saved by 139 british soldiers against 4 thousand Zulus as depicted in the Michael Caine film ‘Zulu’. An incredibly emotive place.
Next stop was Sodwana Bay where I stayed at The Coral Reef dive complex and did a great dive with turtles ...and pirates, long story. Then got robbed of all my food supplies by a troop of very cheeky monkeys who sat up in the trees and watched me watching them whilst chomping on my porridge, chocolates and biltong.
I then travelled up to Swaziland and Mozambique for a few days on the beach, very nice but I was very happy to get back in to South Africa to Spend a few days on safari in Kruger. After close encounters with Crocodiles, Impala, elephants, Leopards, giraffe, buffalo, Rhino, Zebra, Lions and hippos I sadly said goodbye to South Africa and rode around the Kalahari desert to Botswana.
Hello Botswana...This feels like the Africa I’d heard about. I am now camped by the side of the Okavango Delta watching kingfishers and crocs fight over fish....
I’m still loving this....
Bye for now x.
